Obituary

In the loving care of his wife and family, Anthony passed peacefully at home in West Deptford on April 16, 2026, at the age of 86. 

Loving and devoted husband of 60 years to Maryann A. Dogostino (nee Bozza). Loving father of Leanne Shannon (Ronald) and Darren Dogostino (Michelle). Cherished grandfather of Kaylie Shannon, Alyssa Shannon, Nicholas Dogostino (Madelyn), Michael Dogostino (Kayleigh) and Juliana Dogostino and great-grandfather of Giannola. Beloved brother of Anna Doherty (late Jim). 

Anthony was a proud graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1957. Following graduation, he pursued his passion for baseball and became a professional player with the Pittsburgh Pirates after being scouted by the Athletics,Tigers, and Phillies. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Anthony was a member and trustee of the Amici Lodge, Sons & Daughters of Italy in Blackwood, as well as the Salem County Sportsmen’s Club. An avid hunter and fisherman, he had a deep love for the outdoors. Anthony was also a dedicated Philadelphia Phillies fan and rarely missed a game. He was a proud member of American Legion Post #133 in Woodbury. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday evening, April 20th from 6 to 8 PM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 851 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. 

On Tuesday morning, April 21st, all are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Holy Angels Parish, St. Patrick’s Church, 86 Cooper St., Woodbury. Interment with military honors will follow in Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown. In lieu of flowers, please remember Anthony with a donation to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org/donate/ or to Shriners Hospital https://www.shrinerschildrens.org/
