Surrounded by her loving family at home, Arlene passed away peacefully on September 15, 2019 at age 84. (nee Gordon). Of Gloucester City. Loving and devoted wife of 61 years to Edmund A. Walens, Jr. Loving mother of Cheryl Hill (Ron), Edmund A. Walens, III (Kim), Carole Walens and Donna Hutchinson (Mike). Cherished grandmother of Mindy Knight (Ryan), Andrew Myers (Renee), Steven Myers, Andrea Myers (Mike), Marci Hutchinson, Megan Hill, Tyler Hill and Keith Walens. Beloved great grandmother of Elias, Michael, Ryan, Brayden, Adalena and another boy on the way. Also survived by her faithful brother, Robert Gordon, sister Dolores Pancoast, special niece Debbie, brother-in-law Ron Abrams, many loving nieces and nephews and her loyal cats, Goldy & Jasper. Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Martha Gordon and her sister, Marion Abrams.
Arlene was a graduate of Camden High School class of 1953 and a 1956 graduate of West Jersey Hospital School of Nursing. She retired as a registered nurse with Collingswood Manor. Arlene was a 50 year, active member of Highland Park Church of God in Gloucester City, where she loved singing in the choir. She loved walking in nature and will be forever remembered for her beautiful smile.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 from 5:30 to 6 PM at the Highland Park Church of God, 111 Baynes Ave, Gloucester City, NJ 08030. Funeral Service will be celebrated at 6 PM in the church. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Highland Park Church of God, at the above church address or to the Military Support Group of NJ, PO Box 118, Stratford, NJ 08084. Please memo, Arlene Walens.
