IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol J.
Mazza
November 23, 1943 – August 31, 2017
Carol J. Mazza, 73, of Largo Florida, formerly of Magnolia NJ, passed away on August 31, 2017.
Carol was born in Camden NJ to parents Harry and Alice Levengood of Camden NJ, later of Magnolia NJ. Carol was married to Anthony R. Mazza in August of 1961. They had a son Anthony in March of 1963 and a daughter Michelle in June of 1966.
Raised as a young girl in Magnolia NJ with her sister Shirley, she learned the value of working hard and giving back to her family and community. We often heard stories of visiting their Mother at Litt Brothers Department Store, or walking down to the Watsontown Skating Rink. They laughed about the fun times those "Magnolia Girls" had or the trouble they would get into, and how strict Harry was on them. Carol and Shirley both entered, won, and took first runner up in the Miss Collings Lakes pageant, twice!! Carol started working at the age of 16 at Cooper Hospital in Camden NJ and worked as an EKG technician with her very best friend Essie. She would later work at Kennedy Hospital in Stratford and at Kennedy Hospital in Washington Township as an EEG Technician eventually running her own EEG department. She was very successful and earned numerous awards and certificates in her field, and was thrilled that her Father was so proud of her success. Carol was always involved with her children's activities, and most enjoyed the coffee 'clutch' that would follow with Barbara, Mary, Janet, and Joann the rest of the Moms. Carol and her sister Shirley ran a small crafting business named Victorian Lace and later in partnership with her Daughter Michelle, The Mazza Collection by CJM. Both businesses were quite popular and successful on the crafting circuit and on the web. Carol was an avid gardener and grew the biggest and best vegetables in NJ! You could often find her tilling the soil and getting it ready for planting! Carol moved to Florida in 1998 with her family to enjoy her early retirement years in the Sunshine State and loved everything that surrounded the water. Although they had financial burdens, she grew to enjoy the simpler laidback style popular in the South. She loved to talk on the phone and catch up with her cousins Marie and Patty, and all of her friends and family in NJ whom she missed greatly. She always made time for everyone, and loved to have company and host gatherings.
Carol fought a very long and courageous battle from a brain abscess with grace and dignity, showing everyone just how resilient she was and how determined she was to survive. There were both some very funny and extremely sad moments over the last 18 months of her life, all displayed in perfectly witty Carol fashion.
Carol is survived by her son Anthony, her daughter Michelle, sisters in law Josephine, Mary Gayle, and Frances, cousin Marie, many nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones, and her grand-cat Pippy the Chin.
Honoring her wishes, services will be held in the SHELTER on September 8, 2017 at 11:30AM where she will be interred with her Husband, Anthony at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 350 Provinceline Road: Wrightstown, NJ 08562
