Malloy
July 2, 1933 – July 2, 2021
Catherine "Cass" Malloy passed away peacefully at home with family at her side on July 2, 2021; her 88 th birthday. Born to Arnold and Florence Gruning in Camden, NJ. Cass proudly obtained her GED from Gloucester City Department of Education where she went on to become a teacher's aide for fifteen years at Mary Ethel Costello School, a job in which she loved.
Cass was married to the late Rick Malloy for sixty-five years. They married in 1953 and lived in Gloucester Heights for over forty years, raising four children before relocating to Mt. Ephraim. Upon retirement, Cass also enjoyed a few years in The Villages of Lady Lake, Florida. Reading and solving cryptograms were two of her favorite hobbies but Cass's most cherished times were those spent with her loving family especially her devoted grandchildren: long talks and puzzles with Jennifer, watching game shows with Michael, Steve and Tom and Chic-fil-a lunch dates with Brady, Bryce and Danny.
Cass is survived by her four children; Ric of Englewood Fla., Steven Walter (Elsie) of Monroe Twp., Daniel (Gemma) of Brigantine, and Cathy and son-in-law, Mike Hopson of Gloucester City, with whom she lived with for the past three years. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday, July 8 th , 2021 from 11 AM to 12:30 PM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Funeral service 12:30 PM in the funeral home. Interment New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr.
