On January 19, 2016. Age 94 (nee Straube) Formerly of Brooklawn and Lakebridge in Deptford. Loving wife of 44 years to the late William J. Sykes, who she married on September 8, 1945. Loving mother of Cheryl Eschweiler (Fred), Patricia Mulhearn, William Sykes (Linda) and Kimberly Dybeck (Martin). Cherished grandmother of 16 and great grandmother of 16. Dear sister of Juanita Higgins and James Straub (Dorothy).

Claire was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1939. She was affiliated with the Brooklawn United Methodist church her entire life. Throughout that time she was active in the church including: secretary, organist, pianist and teacher. She led M &M Kids at the Echelon Mall Ministry and supported numerous philanthropic ministries. Claire enjoyed church, family, singing, playing piano, gardening and caring for others.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Tuesday morning, January 26, 2016 from 9:30 to 11 AM at the Brooklawn United Methodist Church: 213 Maude Ave (at Hannevig), Brooklawn, NJ 08030. Methodist Service will begin at 11 AM in the church. Interment will take place in the Family Cemetery in Lower Bank, NJ
