On May 16, 2012. Age 52. Of Stratford. A Disabled U.S. Army Veteran, Born and Raised in Gloucester City and suddenly called home to our Heavenly Father. Loving father of Joshua Underwood, Daniel Hannigan (Jaclyn) and Jaime Harker (Ian) and their son, Jackson. Beloved son of Madeleine Underwood "Agnew (Howard) and the late Joseph P. Underwood, Sr. Loving brother of Eileen Vitola (Carl, D.O.) and Faith M. Underwood (his twin sister). Also survived by Joshuas mom, Fran Smith. Cherished Uncle of Laura Caputo (Robert) and Mario Vitola. Loving Great-Uncle of Madeleine and many cousins. Dan proudly served our country in the U.S. Army in the 82nd and 101st Airborne at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was stationed in Nuremberg, Germany. Dan was fearless when parachuting out of helicopters and was extremely proud of his military service to our country. He was a member of the Stetser- Lamartine American Legion Post # 281 in Chews Landing where he served on the Honor Guard. Dan was fond of dogs and cats and took in stray animals. Relatives, friends and American Legion Post #281 are kindly invited to his viewing on Monday morning, May 21, 2012 from 10 to 11:30 AM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Catholic Prayer Service 11:30 am in the funeral home followed by U.S. Army Military Honors. Cremation and Inurnment will be private in New Saint Marys Cemetery, Bellmawr.
