IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daria
Giles
April 13, 1954 – May 21, 2022
On May 21, 2022. Age 68. Of Brooklawn and Ocean City, NJ. ( nee Cerrone ) . Loving and devoted wife and best friend of 48 years to James W. Giles. Loving mother of Ryan Giles (Caitlin) and Aysha Giles (John). Cherished Mom-M om of Ab by (the favorite) , Liam, Ky , Kez , Molly ( t he d og) , and t he t urtles . Beloved sister of Joanne Franco (Mike) and A unt to Michael, Shelle , and Kell ; d earest friend of Annie and Karen . Predeceased by her parents, Joseph J. Cerrone and Doris L. Cerrone ( nee Sprague).
Daria was a pillar in her community and successfully owned and operated a landmark in Brooklawn , Westbrook Family Bowling Center , with her husband and sister for the last 50 years. Daria was a little woman with a very large presence ; she was a positive influence to the people around her. S he was an admired leader and was inducted in to the South Jersey Bowling Hall o f Fame for her contributions to the sport of bowling ; she was direct ly involve d in raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for various charities and her love of the youth bow lers never went unnoticed . Westbrook was her home and she knew everyone ; h e r family always knew that a " quick " stop by at the lanes meant she wouldn't be seen again for a few hours.
If Daria wasn't at Westbrook, she was spending time with family in Ocean City , New Jersey . She was also a devout Bruce Springsteen fan. Daria had a love for clothing and kept the lights on at her local Macy's. She always had a coupon and knew how to find the best deals – even if that meant buying more than she would ever need! Daria was accidentally funny and often the butt of jokes from her family. If you have a pair of unidentified reading glasses in your house, they are probably hers. T here is a lso a good chance she has sent you an incomprehensible talk-to-text message or written note with everything spelled wrong .
Daria had the biggest heart and her family and close friends meant the world to her. If you spent some time with her , you quickly began to feel like family. Daria organized and hosted the family's Thanksgiving event which has grown to more than 8 0 people in recent years . Daria never missed a game or a major event for any of her children or grandchildren. She was the person to call if you ever needed anything and she would always follow through. She is someone who will not soon be forgotten and who se memories will live on in her family and friends forever.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday morning, May 26th from 9 to 11 AM at Westbrook Bowling Lanes, 1 Creek Road, Brooklawn, where funeral services will be celebrated at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
