Suddenly and Tragically, Devon "Gator" McCalmont, age 28, of Newfield died suddenly on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Franklin Township. Born in Merritt Island, FL on July 23, 1984, he was the son of Terrence D. McCalmont of Newfield and Lisa R. McClure of Cocoa, FL. He had been a New Jersey resident for the past 12 years and had lived in North Carolina and Florida prior to that. Self employed as a metal recyclist, he enjoyed the outdoors and four wheel drive trucks. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Jada N. Harris of Shiloh; three sisters, Jessie M. McCalmont of Lake Mary, FL, Tiffany D. McCalmont of Winter Park, FL and Michelle L. McCalmont of Hopewell Twp. and his paternal grandmother Corrine McCalmont of Merritt Island, FL. A time of remembrance and memorial services for family and friends will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Friday, August 10th at 7 PM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township.
