Southampton, NJ. Formerly of Akron, Ohio. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Dorothy S. Davies, on August 6, 2024. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she passed away peacefully at home at the age of 97.

She was preceded in death by husband of 64 years, Lee Davies; parents, William and Ethel Sowers; sister, Carol Douglas and daughter Julie Davies. Dorothy leaves behind her five children, Christopher (Darlene), Elizabeth, Michael (Pamela), Philip (Mary Susan), and Diane Seabolt (Joseph); six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was a lifelong resident of Akron, but spent the last eight years in Southampton, New Jersey living with her daughter Elizabeth. Dorothy was a devoted mother, wife, schoolteacher, and Girl Scout leader. She graduated from Ellet High School and held two bachelor's degrees from Akron U.  She was an active member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority into her later years. Dorothy was a lifelong active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed travel and "tripping the light fantastic" with her husband Lee. She traveled extensively, did mission trips and regularly fed the homeless into her 80s. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing bridge and scrabble.

Plans for a memorial service in Akron will be announced at a later date. Inurnment with her late husband in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery will be private.
