IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Frances
Neal Baylie
October 22, 1917 – May 2, 2018
Don't cry for Dorothy.
On May 2, 2018, after 100 years on God's earth, she danced the
Charleston up to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dorothy was
heaven on earth - her upbeat personality and love for all of God's children made her a
treasure to everyone she met. A woman who never sat still - she turned cartwheels
through her 40's, played wiffle ball into her 80's, and was styling "little old church
ladies' hair" in their homes until she was 90.
Born and raised in Lynchburg, TN,
Dorothy was one of seven children born to Ella and John Neal. She loved learning and
would ride her horse through 6 feet of water (according to Dorothy) and then walk up a steep hill in the
snow/rain to a one room schoolhouse. She continued her education after
following her sister to Detroit, MI, where she received a degree in cosmetology.
There, she met the love of her life, William Baylie and relocated to
Magnolia, N.J. where together they opened a florist shop, started/built
Berean Baptist Church and had two daughters, Betty and Linda. Her family grew
to include two son-in-laws, Edward Barniskis (Linda) and Carl Cutler (Betty), and
her favorite part, four grandchildren: Meighan, Erik, Melynda and Evan. She lovingly
kept her grandchildren every Saturday and Sunday in order to have them attend Sunday
School. Dorothy lived for her grandchildren. As they grew, she added four more
grandchildren, their spouses, Jason (Meighan), Dave (Melynda), Stephanie (Evan)
and Angie (Erik). Over the last 10 years, Dorothy has had the pleasure of playing with
her seven great grandchildren: Graham, Brooks, Beckett, Elle, Emerson, Ember and
Eve.
