Edward Joseph Simila, age 73, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015. A native of Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John and Florence Simila (nee Green). He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maryann (nee Tiefenthaler), and by a brother, Robert Simila. Mr. Simila is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Jeremy Carney of Murfreesboro, TN; brothers, John W. (Jack) Simila of Gloucester City, NJ and James Simila of Dallas, PA; sisters, Florence Matz and Mary Ragen both of Melbourne, FL; grandson, Michael Edward Carney of Murfreesboro, TN. Mr. Simila was a retired Glazier with Local 252 and spent years working as a Teamster with Local 676. His passions were hunting, fishing and shooting. He was at his best when enjoying time with friends and family. His final joy was holding his grandson. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, July 18, from 9 to 10:30 AM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM at Saint Mary's R.C. Church: 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Interment with his late wife, Maryann in New Saint Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr. No evening visitation. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made on his behalf to a scholarship founded in 2007 in his late nephew's honor.
