Obituary

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 1, 2017. (nee Stanton). Ethel was a longtime resident of both National Park and West Deptford. Ethel graduated from Woodbury H.S. in 1952. After H.S. she worked for a short time. However, she thought her most important work would be raising her six children with her H.S. sweetheart John A. Convery. She was a parishioner of St. Matthew's Church and would fondly recall her trip to Ireland with the parish, friend Msgr. Curran and close family. She cherished her long time club nicknamed "Little Tiny Hines" and their meetings to date once a month. Ethel was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Favorite times were down on the Jersey Shore beach and campground. She will be dearly missed, yet her memory and legacy are carried on by those who loved her.

Ethel was predeceased by her parents Helen Cattell Stanton and Walter Stanton; her loving husband John A. Convery; her daughter Joanne Gorman and brother Walter Stanton (Mary Jane). She leaves behind her brother, George (Gail) Stanton; her children, John (Julie), Maria (Jim), Thomas (Christine), Susan, Helen (Bert); her son-in-law, Joseph Gorman; grandchildren, Kelly, Lucy and Colleen Convery, Sean, Keith and Rachel Gorman, Colleen and Jessica Dougherty, Joelle Fritz, Alexandria Parks, Helen Ekimoglou, Tyler and Evan Witcraft and 15 great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws and longtime caregiver Maggie Kain.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Friday morning, January 6, 2017 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City, NJ 08030. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon in the church. Interment will be private in Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown with her late husband.
