Of West Deptford, NJ. On May 1, 2024 at the age of 76. Born in Mount Holly, NJ, he was the son of the late, Horace and Mary L. (Wells) Sweet. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah "Debbie (Ireland) Sweet, loving sons, Gerald "Jerry" Sweet (Jennifer), James Defilippis (Jena); cherished grandchildren, Jordan, Madison, Cameron, Dakota, Nicki, Cierra; great grandson, John "JT'; brother, Sam Gager and sister, Barbara Jane Gager-Maybury. Jerry was also predeceased by his son, Michael DeFilippis.

Jerry proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years as a fuel tanker truck driver with Smith Transportation in Bridgeport, NJ as well as PCL Transportation in Pemberton, NJ and Miller Transportation in Logan Twp., NJ. Jerry was a longtime member of the VFW Post #5579 in Gibbstown, NJ, the Army & Navy Garrison #52 in National Park, NJ, and he loved the many cruises that he and Debbie took.

Funeral Services will begin at 11 AM on Thursday, May 9th at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 851 Monmouth St, Gloucester City, where family and friends may visit from 9 to 11 AM.  Interment will follow in Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown, NJ.
