Surrounded by his family, Jim passed peacefully on July 10, 2025, at the age of 80. Of West Deptford. Formerly a longtime resident of Brooklawn. Loving and devoted husband of 58 years to Anna C. Doherty (nee Dogostino). Loving father of James J. Doherty (Linda) and Brian Doherty (Kate). Cherished grandfather of Gabryelle Ziegler (Ryan), Katelyn Doherty, Molly Doherty, Maggie Doherty, Mitch Doherty and Amanda Doherty and great-grandfather of Ezra. Beloved brother of Evelyn Cullen (Patrick) and Noreen Cattel and brother-in-law of Anthony Dogostino (Maryann). Predeceased by his parents, James L. Doherty, Sr. and Kathryn Haney (late James) and his sister, Kathy Wilgus (late Bob).

Jim was a graduate of Gloucester City High School and proudly served our country in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a proud member of Carpenters Union Local #8 in Philadelphia for 55 years. He was a longtime member and past commander of the Brooklawn American Legion Post #72. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his sons.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Wednesday morning, July 16th from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM in the church. Interment will be private.
