Obituary

James Wing Eng, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, at the age of 91, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Gloucester City, New Jersey, on October 5, 1934, James was the son of the late Joseph Wing Eng and Siu Ying Wong. He was a graduate of Gloucester City High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from LaSalle University. A proud United States Army veteran, James honorably served his country during the Korean War.

Following his military service, James enjoyed a long and successful career as a Casino Supervisor at Harrah’s Casino in Atlantic City. Known affectionately to many as a "Gentle Giant" with a "Larger than Life" personality, he possessed an extraordinary warmth and a wonderful gift for storytelling that captivated friends, colleagues, and family alike. An avid golfer, James found great joy and camaraderie on the golf course throughout his life.

Above all, James was deeply devoted to his family. He shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Linda Eng.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his loving children: Deborah (Edward), Betty (John), Linda (Charles), and James (Lori); and his cherished grandchildren: Christian (Lynn), Sean, Megan, Lia, Zachery, and Benjamin. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Siu Ying, as well as his late siblings, Sui-Jan (Mon Way), Jerry (Helen), and Henry (surviving Cynthia).

James’ warmth, strength, and iconic storytelling will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Family and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, Sept 26th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 851 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City, NJ. Funeral services will begin at 12:30 PM in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at New St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, 515 W. Browning Road, Bellmawr, NJ 08031.
