Obituary

On January 28, 2021, James J. Pierman of Gloucester City, passed away at age 67.  Loving and devoted husband of 40 years to Kathleen L. Pierman (nee Loope). Loving father of John Pierman. Cherished son of the late Samuel Pierman and Mary Torpey Pierman. Also predeceased by his step-mother Maryann McQuiad Pierman. Beloved brother of Samuel Pierman, Thomas Pierman (Barbara), Michael McQuaid and Patricia Daly (Carl) and brother-in-law of Anna Mary Loope. Beloved uncle of Samuel Pierman (Helen), Tom Pierman (Robyn), Wendy Chapman (Mark), Maryann McPherson (Mark), Scott Pierman and Nicole Smalley (Josh Knorovsky). Also survived by lots of Great Nephews & Great Nieces.

James Graduated from Gloucester City High School in 1971, Gloucester County Technical School and was a certified inspector thru NAESA International, National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities. He was a Federal Elevator Inspector and Electrical Engineer at the Philadelphia Naval Yard for 37 years and was set to retire this year. James was an original member of the Junk Yard Band in Gloucester. He played guitar at a very early age, and was phenomenal at playing! James (Gloucester) and Harry Boulden (Brooklawn) started a band called "Thin Sole Shoes". James played guitar, the band played such events as Gloucester Day, and at all local establishments between Gloucester and Brooklawn, they lasted together up until Harry passed. They loved playing rock n' roll. James started working a second job as backstage security supervisor at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, to continue being around the love of Rock n' Roll shows. His son, John, is the Head of Audio for Live Nation Concerts at the BB&T Pavilion (All because the love he had for his dad and music) You can say his son John followed in his Dad's footsteps loving music, but James and his Son John, loved seeing each other everyday at work in Camden. It was a blessing to see a father & son so close to one another, they were able to spend so much time together in a place they both loved dearly, a rock n' roll venue! When he wasn't working, he was spending time at home with his wife, working on his favorite Disney character voices and hanging with his best bud, his dog, Mr. Murph! James was an avid hunter along with his Brothers, Sam and Tom, and is a member of the South Jersey Roamers.

James loved his family, his immediate friends and his work friends very much! He was the most selfless, giving and caring individual Gloucester City has ever had. All he did was help others when in need. Anyone who knows him, knows he was there for everyone, everyday of his life.
