On September 11, 2016. Age 80. Of Gloucester City . Loving husband of 45 years to Joan Torpey (nee Martin). Devoted father of Michael (Melissa) Torpey of Medford. Cherished grandfather of Mason and Miles. Dear Brother of Dolores Johnson and predeceased by his siblings: Margaret Collins, Agnes Haney and Virginia DiLeo. Survived by nieces, nephews and cousins .

Jim was born in Woodbury and was a lifelong, proud resident of Gloucester City. He attended and graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School Class of 1954. Jim proudly entered and served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He was a longtime member of the Townsend C. Young V.F.W Post # 3620 in Gloucester City. Jim was very proud and dedicated to his Catholic faith and was a longtime parishioner of Saint Mary's R.C. Church in Gloucester City.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his visitation on Thursday from 10:30 am to 12:30 PM at the McCann-Healey Funeral Home: 851 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City . Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM at Saint Mary's R.C. Church: 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Cremation and Inurnment with U.S. Army Military Honors will be private in New Saint Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr.
