Obituary

Janet (née Daisey) passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, at the age of 73, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a longtime resident of National Park and formerly of Gloucester City.

Janet was the loving wife of 25 years to David Walsh and the proud mother of Jamie (Greg) Black, Kathryn (Stephanie) Hofstetter, and Kimberly (James) Zuccarello. She was a devoted grandmother to Lucy, Benjamin, Adelaide, and Allison, who affectionately called her and David Yia Yia and Poppop.

She also leaves behind her siblings James (Nicole) Daisey, Marilyn Hill, and Kathryn (Christopher) Capritti, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will always remember fondly.

Born in Camden and raised in Gloucester City, Janet attended St. Mary's Grammar School and graduated from Gloucester High School in 1970. She was a devoted member of Saint Mary's R.C. Church in Gloucester City.

Janet worked for many years as the office manager for Dr. Joel Okon, DDS, in Lindenwold, where patients instantly felt at ease with her. Even someone coming in for a root canal could leave smiling. She had a natural way of putting others first, guided by her kindness, gentle humor and quick wit.

She loved nothing more than time with her family and friends. An afternoon tea followed by a craft fair or a visit to antique shops was her idea of a perfect day. She could just as happily spend an afternoon with HGTV or a Hallmark Christmas movie, with a good book always within reach. She was an avid reader and a naturally gifted writer.

Her greatest joys were watching her daughters shine, whether onstage or crossing a finish line. Time as "Yia Yia' with her grandchildren was time well spent as they were her whole heart. Trips to Cape May and Spring Lake were her happy places, and she often said she found the most peace by the water under a cloudless light blue sky.

She loved her husband deeply and cherished the creative life they built together, especially the time they spent working side by side on their books and their musical The Castle of Dreams. She believed wholeheartedly in equality, forgiveness and second chances, and she tried to lead every day with kindness. She held a quiet, steady belief that everyone deserves help, and she offered that help whenever she could.

"And I think to myself
What a wonderful world"
