Obituary

On September 27, 2021. Age 34. Of Gloucester City. Cherished Son of Jay F. and JoAnne C. (nee Kent) Brophy. Devoted brother of Jay F. Brophy (Megan Murphy) and Shane P. Brophy (Alyssa Smith). Loving maternal grandson of Veronica Kent. Loving maternal step-grandson of Dorothy Kent and the late Robert Kent. Beloved paternal grandson of the late Jack and Bert Brophy. Adored uncle and godfather of Layla Marie Brophy. Survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-aunts and great-uncles.

John was born in Voorhees and was a lifelong resident of Gloucester City. He played baseball for Gloucester City Little League and football for the Gloucester City Mustangs. John graduated from St. Mary' Grammar School in Gloucester City in  2001. John graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School in 2005. He enjoyed playing football at Gloucester Catholic. John was a graduate apprentice of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. John was a proud and hardworking Boilermaker. He was a 4 th generation Boilermaker and was very proud to continue the family tradition. John was a devoted friend of Bill. John was a  parishioner of Saint Mary's R.C. Church in Gloucester City.

Relatives, friends, classmates from St. Mary's grammar school, Gloucester Catholic High School and brother boilermakers are kindly invited to attend his viewing on Thursday, October 7  from 5 pm to 8 pm and Friday, October 8  from 9 am to 10 am at the McCann-Healey Funeral Home: 851 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11  am at 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City, NJ 08030. Interment New Saint Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr. Family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers memorial donations to Gloucester Catholic High School: 333 Ridgeway Street, Gloucester City, NJ 08030.
