On September 4, 2022. Age 75 Of Warwick, MD, formerly of Gloucester City, NJ. Born in Woodbury, he was the son of the late, John R. Carter, Sr. and Ruth (Worrall) Cater. John is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Virginia "Ginny" (Shaw) Carter; loving children, Michelle Young (Glenn) and John R. Carter, III; cherished grandchildren, John Robert Grube (Kirsten), Kenny Young (Alicia), Glenn Young (Madison) and Keely Young; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Carter, Kathryn and Gianna, cousin Joan Starke and furbabies Mickey and the late Cody and Lena.

John retired in September of 2007 after 31 years with AMTAK in Elkton, MD, where he worked as a Building and Bridge Inspector. He was a graduate of Gloucester City High School, class of 1967.  John loved to travel with Ginny in their RV and spend time in Ocean City, MD.   He loved hunting and fishing, was an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens and a member of the Moose Lodge #932 in Woodstown, NJ. He loved NASCAR and to his NASCAR friends was fondly known as "Mr. Mayor".

Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, September 9 ^th at 1 pm at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City, where family and friends may visit from 11 am to 1pm. Burial will follow in Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ.
