On March 6, 2014. Age 82. Of Mantua. Formerly of Brooklawn and Gloucester City. Loving husband of the late Dorothy A. Reader (nee Jewiss). Loving fianc and companion of Joyce Gandy. Loving father of Juanita Reader, John L. Reader III and the late Roberta Mogar. Cherished grandfather of Jacquelyn, Stefanie, John IV and Jessica and great grandfather of Matthew, Braelynn, Kamryn and Savanah. Dear brother of Levi, Thomas, Ellen, Timothy and the late Charles Reader. Also survived by his special niece Heather Martz. Born in Brooklawn on October 4, 1931, Jack graduated from Gloucester City High School class of 1950. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Jack was a police officer for Brooklawn for 28 years, retiring as chief in 1991 and a life member of Brooklawn Fire Company. Jack was inducted into the Chapel of The Four Chaplains and was a longtime member of the Marine Corps League and Devil Dogs, U.S.S. New Jersey Lodge #62 F&AM (Ionic #94) and The Valley of Southern N.J. Scottish Rite. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday evening from 6 to 9 PM and again on Tuesday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 AM at the Brooklawn United Methodist Church: 213 Maude Ave. (at Hannevig), Brooklawn, NJ 08030. Methodist Service will begin at 11 AM in the church. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
