IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ladean Marian
(Mathers - Miller) "Toni" Johnson
August 23, 1938 – October 12, 2023
Deptford Township - LaDean Marian (Mathers-Miller) "Toni" Johnson was the only child born to Al Mathers and Hazel (Miller) Dunn in Allen Co. Ohio on Aug 23,1938. She departed from this life on Oct 12, 2023 at the age of 85 years. She spent most of her early years in Lima, Ohio and also the Cleveland area. As an adult she moved to the Philadelphia and NYC areas, settling in Willingboro, NJ with her husband Charles C. "CC" Johnson.
There she ran a successful business supplying restaurants in Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs with fine chocolates and other delicacies. After the passing of her husband, she settled into a retirement community in Dover, DE with a few cats that she dearly loved. LaDean took her mother into her home for a few years, giving care to Hazel as best she could. LaDean always enjoyed the finer things in life - chocolates, coffee, wine, clothes, cookbooks (she loved to cook. That was her therapy!) and traveled extensively with her dear friend, Carol Gnep-Fung. In February 2013, a debilitating brain aneurysm set her on a path that was not of her choosing. In spite of never fully regaining who she had been, there was still lots of conversation and laughs. Ladean always enjoyed a great meal and even better dessert!
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-father William Dunn and step-brother Roger Dunn.
She was survived by step-niece Robin (Michael) McLaury, step-nephew Rodger (Jen) Dunn and step-great-nephew Max McLaury, and many cousins.
"The Lord does all things well. Blessed be the name of the Lord!"
At the request of the family, private cremation and there will be no memorial services. LaDean's cremains will be scattered at sea at her request.
