Riverside- Maria Elena passed peacefully on July 19, 2023, at the age of 81. Born in Quito, Ecuador, SA she was the youngest of six children born to Juan Reinaldo Bastidas Flores and Luz Maria Martiñez Pazmiño OBM and had been last of her generation.

Cherished mother of Maria Elena Landazuri (Steven Herbst); loving grandmother of Maria Egberts-Pavoni (Armando Jr.), Barry B. Egberts (Samantha Lind); Great grandmother of Jocelynn Mattingly and LCpl Lorallie Egberts USMC

Maria Elena was a retired bookkeeper/ payroll clerk for companies like Willis Eye Hospital and John B. Kelly Construction in Philadelphia. Pangborne in Bala Cynwyd, PA. In 1974 she relocated with both her mother and daughter to Pennsauken, NJ brothers' home so that her beloved niece and namesake Maria Elena Bastidas would have family stability after she lost her mother tragically at a tender age. During that time until her formal retirement she was employed at Western Union in Cherry Hill.

Maria Elena was a productive and established Avon Lady throughout her life since 1970. Until our collective existence was upended due to COVID 19.

As a roaming Catholic she was known to be seen at many churches in her community as well as being an active parishioner of Jesus, The Good Shepherd Parish, St. Peter R.C. Church, Riverside. St. Joseph Parish in Beverly and Resurrection Parish, Holy Name R.C. Church in Delran. She had been an active member of the Legion of Mary, in our Lady of Good Counsel in Maple Shade as well.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Wednesday morning, July 26th from 9:45 to 10:45 AM at St Mary's R.C. Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM in the church. Entombment New St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, Bellmawr.
