In the loving care and surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer, Marie passed away peacefully at home on October 11, 2023, at the age of 88. (nee Summer) Of Bellmawr. Formerly of Newton, NJ, Lewes, DE and Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Loving mother of Marie I. Frolio, N. John Frolio (Kate) and the late Christine Frolio Nyland. Cherished grandmother of Crystal Reynolds (Shawn), the late Charles Nyland, Michelle Frolio, Stephanie Frolio and Michael Frolio. Cherished great-grandmother of Catherine, Jedidiah, Isabella, Nathanael, Michael, Justin, Elijah and Gavin. Marie was predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Catherine Summer as well as her 7 brothers and sisters. She leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and friends in New Jersey and Delaware.
Marie was born in Staten Island, New York and received her bachelor's degree from Fairleigh Dickinson in Teaneck, NJ. In her early career, she worked for the airlines and then found her true calling as a dedicated catholic grade school teacher at Immaculate Conception School for over 20 years. Marie was passionate about education and victim advocacy. She was a devout catholic and parishioner of St. Joachim Church in Bellmawr and attended masses at St. Edmond's and St. Jude's when she resided in Delaware.
Marie was a member of the Delaware State Columbiettes, Elks Club, VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Rehoboth Beach, DE. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, gardening, home improvement projects and annual traveling with her daughter Marie. She was most fond of their trip to Ireland to visit family, Vatican audience with Pope John Paul II and to the Netherlands to visit the grave of her late brother, PFC Joseph Summer, who was killed in action during WWII and buried in Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, Netherlands.
At her request, services will be private.
