Mark Metler, a beloved member of the Kelsch Associates community, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024, at the age of 76. Despite facing the challenges of a disability, Mark lived a life full of joy, determination, and remarkable accomplishments.
Born on October 16, 1947, Mark grew up with an indomitable spirit and had a positive and inspiring outlook. He celebrated life by marking each holiday and keeping in touch with family, friends, and extended family.
Mark's disability never defined him; his resilience and passion did. Mark and Terri Simmerman married in 1995 and spent 15 years together until she passed away in 2011. Mark retired from working for Wawa for decades, often recognized as a top employee.
Mark was known for his exceptional ability to connect with people and bring out the best in them. Mark's love for life extended beyond his community. He was an avid Philly sports fan. His sense of humor, warmth, and unwavering kindness touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Mark was predeceased by his parents, Clifford W. and Helen Marian Metler, and his sister Diane Thomas, and brother Carl Metler. Surviving are his sister Denise Szymanski of Mays Landing, and brother Guy Metler and his wife Angi, of Highland Lakes. He is also survived by his cousins Beverly Ignatovicz, Howard Hoffman, Mary Fern Szatkowski, Ronald Hoffman, and Susan Hoffman. Mark loved his nieces Heather, Sarah, and Susan and nephews Kyle and Michael.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held on July 9, 2024, at McCann - Healey Funeral Home, 851 Monmouth St, Gloucester City, NJ 08030 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Catholic Service 1:30 pm in the funeral home officiated by Father Walter Norris.
Interment will be at Land of Canaan Cemetery in Glassboro, New Jersey, next to his wife, Terri.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mark's memory to a charity of your choice, as Mark's kindness extended to all.
Mark Metler's legacy is one of courage, compassion, and community. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His life reminds us of the incredible strength of the human spirit and the profound impact one person can have on the world.
