Maryfrances E. Ellis, (nee Scheib) Age 72, of Brooklawn, New Jersey, passed away on April 1, 2026, at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Maryfrances earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Temple University, a path that reflected her lifelong dedication to helping others.

Maryfrances devoted over 25 years as a Special Education teacher in New Jersey, where she made a lasting impact on countless students and families before her retirement. She was known for her patience, compassion, and unwavering commitment to all children in her care.

She was also a volunteer firewoman for many years in the 1980s thru 1990s with the Glendora Fire Department, demonstrating her deep sense of service and community involvement.

Maryfrances enjoyed camping in Elmer, NJ at her camper, crafting, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys Football fan. She was a dedicated and generous volunteer for Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Maryfrances resided in Brooklawn from 1995 to her passing.

Above all, Maryfrances will be remembered as a caring individual who gave generously of herself to help those in need.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Samuel John Ellis, Jr., in February 2007 and her parents. Maryfrances is survived by her adopted son, Devin Ellis; her brother, Anthony Scheib; step-children, Joseph and Joanna Ellis and their mother, Michele Lynch, a dear friend.

Relatives, friends and firefighters of Glendora Fire Department are invited to attend her Catholic Graveside Service on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Eglington Cemetery: 320 Kings Highway, Clarksboro, New Jersey 08020.
