Michael J. Bowe, 76, of Audubon, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on September 14, 2026.

Born on November 4, 1949, Mike was raised in Gloucester City, a place that remained an important part of his identity throughout his life. He attended St. Mary’s school and Gloucester Catholic High School, and carried his South Jersey roots with him wherever life took him.

Mike was the beloved son of the late Thomas J. Bowe and Dorothy Butler Bowe. Devoted husband of the late Deborah “Debbie” Bowe. He was the brother of Dorothy “Dottie” Zeccola, Thomas Bowe, and the late Edward M. Bowe, Sr., and Jack Bowe. His family also included Dorothy’s “Dotties” children, nephew, Jimmy Bowe, niece Tamara “Tammy” Flynn, his sister-in-law Susan Ann Leblang, niece Debra Ann Leblang, goddaughter Lauren Sieber Jessen, and brother-in-law Anthony “Ace” Durso, along with many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, lifelong friends, colleagues, and the many people whose lives crossed his through radio, music, Gloucester City, and the South Jersey community.

Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, completing nearly a year of service in Vietnam and attaining the rank of Specialist Four (E-4). His military decorations included the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device, and the Expert Rifle Badge. His honorable service was an important part of his life and legacy.

Following his military service, Mike built a long and memorable career in radio and entertainment, becoming a familiar voice to generations of listeners throughout the Philadelphia and South Jersey area. His broadcasting career included time with KISS 100, WMGK, WPEN, WHAT/Martini Radio, KOOL 98.3, and iRadioPhilly.

At WMGK, Mike became especially well known through his work on the station and Saturday Night ’70s show, bringing the spirit of music to an unforgettable era of listeners across the region. Whether he was behind a microphone, working as a DJ at night clubs, gigs, ceremonies and events he knew how to bring a crowd.

Music was one of the great passions of his life. Mike possessed an extraordinary knowledge of music and radio and could seemingly recall a song, artist, station, or story for almost any occasion. His love of broadcasting connected him with countless listeners, coworkers, entertainers, and friends over the decades.

Mike had a way of being entirely himself. He was funny, quick-witted, sentimental, outspoken, and unforgettable. Through decades of Philadelphia-area radio, and through the countless friendships he made along the way, Mike lived a life filled with stories that will continue to be told by the people who knew and loved him dearly.

Mike was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Gloucester City where he was an usher who assisted with collection at the 7:30 am Sunday Mass. He was a proud member of Townsend C. Young V.F.W Post # 3620 in Gloucester City.

Mike was also a devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan. He loved playing softball as both catcher and pitcher. He enjoyed spending time “down the shore” at the Borgata in Atlantic City and taking weekend trips to the La Samana in Brigantine. He loved good music, his favorite band was The Four Tops. He was a devoted best friend to many, enjoyed good company, and the familiar routines and places that became part of the life he shared with Debbie.

Above all else, Mike’s greatest love was his wife, Deborah “Debbie” Bowe. Mike and Debbie shared 41 years of marriage and a life that was uniquely their own. They were partners, companions, and best friends. Debbie’s passing only months before Mike’s was an enormous loss. Those who knew them understood when you thought of one, you automatically thought of the other. Their life together was built on companionship, loyalty, laughter, and a lifetime of shared memories.

After 41 years together in life, Mike and Debbie have been reunited in heaven by way of Jesus Christ and will now be reunited together in a Niche at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery.

U.S. Army Military Honors and Catholic Committal Prayers on 11 am at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery: 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. Inurnment for Mike and Debbie's urns will be private.
