Milton "Reb" Light Jr ., 94 years old, long time resident of Gloucester City, NJ, passed away quietly in his sleep on April 29, 2018 in Santa Monica, Ca. Born August 8, 1923, Chattanooga, TN. and was the only son of Milton and Dorothy Light. A World War II Army Veteran with B Company, 726th Amphibian Tractor Battalion, was Honorably Discharged in 1946, was awarded World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, AP Theater Ribbon and two Bronze Service Stars. He later became a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers until his retirement in 1988.
Milton and his belated wife, Bernice of 72 years, moved to Gloucester City in 1956 where he raised his family and is survived by his children Billy Light, Sr. (Peggy), Linda Light, David Light (Kris), Michael Light (Marcia), Margaret "Bootsie" Rebstock (Ted) and the late Steven Light and many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Milton and Bernice would spend many years attending sporting events of their children and grandchildren and in later years spent time traveling back and forth between New Jersey and California.
The Light family wishes sincere gratitude to Msgr. Lloyd Torgerson, Pastor of St. Monica's Catholic Church in Santa Monica, California, for welcoming Milton and baptizing him into the Catholic faith at the age of 92, after being inspired by Pope Francis visit to the United States.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Milton's visitation on Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 9:00am to 10:30am at the McCann – Healey Funeral Home: 851 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Service will be held at 10:30am in the funeral home. Inurnment with U.S. Army Military Funeral Honors to follow at the Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
