December 30, 1930 – March 20, 2019
Brooklawn – On March 20, 2019. Age 88. Loving and devoted husband of 56 years to the late Margaret E. Theckston (nee Wilson). Loving father of Norman J. Jr. (Patricia), Michael (Diane), Patrick (Gina), John (Lori) and the late Thomas. Cherished grandfather of Veronica Theckston, Gerald Theckston (Diana), Lawrence Theckston (Denise), Michael Theckston Jr., Ryan Theckston (Roxanne), Patrick Theckston, Jr. (Jacquie), Timothy Theckston (Karen), Taylor Theckston, Jonathan Theckston, Nathan Theckston, Jennifer Ferrilli and Lauren Gorman. Loving great-grandfather of Gabriel Theckston, Carter Theckston, Cole Gorman, Katherine Ferrilli, Sailor Theckston, Payden Theckston and Elizabeth Theckston. Beloved brother of Howard Theckston, Warren Theckston and Carol Monforte.
Norman was a graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School class of 1949. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Norman retired as Manager of the Walt Whitman Bridge with the Delaware River Port Authority. He was a longtime member of the Brooklawn American Legion Post #72, NRA and participated in many Revolutionary War reenactments. Norman was a skilled craftsman, carpenter and dabbled in architecture. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting antiques.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday, March 25, 2019 from 9:45 to 11:45 AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial 12 Noon in the church. Interment with U.S. Navy Honors in New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr.
