"Rae" Whelan
November 12, 1933 – September 12, 2021
On September 12, 2021. Age 87. Of Gloucester City. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late, Thomas and Mary (Mahoney) Whelan.
Rae is survived by many loving nieces and nephews and her God-daughter, Tammy Beringer. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Jack Whelan, James Whelan, Thomas Whelan, Margaret Hennessey, Elizabeth Sullivan and Mary Werner.
Rae graduated from Mount Carmel Business School and retired after 43 years as the register of deeds Chief Clerk in Camden County. She had been a resident of Gloucester City since 1956. She was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, the Historical Society and the Gloucester City Cultural Arts & Heritage Society since it started in 2007. Rae enjoyed a good cup of tea, diner coffee, crab cakes trips to the casinos, praying the rosary daily. She handed out miraculous medals to anyone she met. She loved the Eagles and all things Irish.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning September 18, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill.
