Obituary

On October 7, 2023, Raymond Thomas McKenney Sr. of Brooklawn, NJ, surrounded by his loving family passed away suddenly. Beloved husband of 41 years to Gwen McKenney (nee Spingler). Loving father to Monica Ferry (Tom), Raymond McKenney Jr. (Gwen), and Madison McKenney (Vincent DiGiacomo Jr.). Proud Pop Pop to Peyton, Collins, Raegan, Tommy, Riley, & Jameson. Son to late Jerome McKenney Sr. & Florence McKenney (nee Monahan); brothers, Patrick McKenney, late Micheal McKenney Sr., & Jerome McKenney, Jr.

Raymond was born on February 28, 1960 and grew up in Gloucester City. He then met the love of his life, Gwen and they started their family in Brooklawn where they lived for about 40 years and raised their three children.

Raymond was a proud member of Local 322 since he was 18 years old. Some of the things he enjoyed most about being a part of the union was the strong friendships and brothers he gained along the way, working the golf tournament every year, the Santa Breakfast, and the many picnics he helped out with each year!

The proudest time of his life was when he recently built a beautiful home in Vineland on his own "little farm." Raymond spent every day over the last 2 years on his land creating a beautiful home for Gwen and him, his family, and most importantly, for his grandchildren to create beautiful memories! He even spent his last night before he went home to heaven sitting on the porch with his best friend Gwen and admiring the horse that he finally got, the beautiful work he had created, and most importantly, that he had finally done what he had set out to do, give his family everything that he could.

Raymond lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment that he spent with his family. His wife, children, and grandchildren were most important to him. Anyone who knows him, has felt his intense love. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. His love will continue to grow on through his family and he will continue to love and protect them every day!

Relatives, friends and fellow members of Local 322 are invited to his viewings on Sunday afternoon, October 15th from 2 to 4 PM and again on Monday morning October 16th from 9:15 to 10:45 AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 11 AM in the church. Interment will follow in New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr.
