Cox, Sr.
October 18, 1935 – February 16, 2018
On February 16, 2018. Age 82. Of Gloucester City. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late James and Vera (Cashell) Cox. Beloved father of Jean Girgenti (William), Robert J. Cox, Jr. (Sharon). Loving grandfather of Marissa Wood, Kaitlin Girgenti, Robert Girgenti, William Girgenti (Samantha), Michael Girgenti (Stephanie), Robert J. Cox III, Lauren Herring, Daniel Herring and great-grandfather of Hazel Mae Girgenti. He was also survived by his brothers Thomas Cox (Helen) and George Cox. Robert was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia J. (Ratcliff) Cox in March of 2016 and his daughter, Laura Wood in October of 2017, sisters, Jean Caruso and Patricia Spennato.
Robert proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force. He was an electrician for Mobil Oil Refinery in Paulsboro for 25 years. Robert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.
Catholic Funeral Services will be celebrated on Thursday, February, 22nd at 12 noon at the McCann-Healey Funeral Home: 851 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City, where relatives and friends may visit from 10 am to 12 noon.
Burial with U.S. Air Force Military Honors will follow in New Saint Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Please include Robert J. Cox, Sr. in the memo.
