Obituary

On November 18, 2016. The youngest of 7 children. Robert was the son of the late Richard and Mary (Dunbar) McKnight, who were both immigrants from Ireland.

Bob proudly served our country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army, where he worked as a staff driver for a Colonel in Germany, Austria and Italy. He went on to work as a copier for Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company in Philadelphia, PA until his retirement in 1989. A former member of the Philadelphia Mummers, Trilby String Band, he played the Standing Bass until 1958. Bob was very proud of his Irish heritage.

Bob is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He resided in West Deptford for the last 14 years with his niece Marie Brady Hempsey and her family where he became affectionately known as "Uncle Bob" to all their family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday December 8th from 9 to 10:00 am at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 am. Interment with U.S. Army Military Honors will be in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare Association, 509 Centennial Blvd., Voorhees, NJ 08043. Please write in memo: Robert McKnight.
