Surrounded by family, age 88, of Westville, formerly Brooklawn & Gloucester, embraced eternal peace on August 27, 2025. Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her children, Stacey Murphy & Thomas Murphy (Ceil); grandchildren Casandra P. Murphy-Betham (Ian) & Zachary T. Murphy (Natalie). Also survived by her brother William Tourtual and Diane Goley.
Born on May 1, 1937 to the late Charles and Edna Tourtual, in Verga, NJ. She was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1955.
Ruth will always be remembered for her enduring commitment to her family and friends, and will be continuously cherished by those influenced by her generosity, benevolence, and enthusiastic passion for life. She demonstrated a magical ability to make people laugh, feel thoroughly loved and welcomed. Predeceased by the "Love of her Life" Thomas "Choo Choo" Murphy for 68 years; her beloved granddaughter Casandra P. Murphy-Betham; and siblings Charles, Edna and Shirley.
Ruth lived life to the fullest, laughing and loving unconditionally. Ruth retired from the Camden County Board of Social Services and was a diehard fan of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet Friday, September 5, 2025 from 9:15 to 11:15 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr.
