On July 5, 2025, at the age of 51, Steven passed suddenly in an automobile accident in Philadelphia, PA. Of Pennsville. Formerly of Gloucester City. Survived by his wife, Malisa Cooney (nee Hagerty); his children, Jarrod Cooney, Derron Cooney; and twins, Trent and Ayla Cooney, and their mom, Michelle Baker; his parents, Joseph T. Cooney and Grace Ann Cooney (nee Patterson); sisters, Allison Zimecki (Chad), Grace Cooney and Patricia Cooney; and his beloved niece, Shayla. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Steve was a longtime resident of Gloucester City and a 1992 graduate of Gloucester High School, where he excelled on the football field. He was currently employed as a chemical operator for Keystone Industries in Gibbstown, NJ. Steve was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football and he enjoyed playing cards and throwing horseshoes. Steve enjoyed coaching his children in youth sports.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, July 25th from 10 AM to 12 PM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City, where his funeral service will be celebrated at 12 PM. Interment will be private.
