June 19, 1951 – April 27, 2024
On April 27, 2024. Age 72. Of Cherry Hill. Formerly of Gloucester City. Dear brother of Kathleen M. Rowan and Maryann Hook. Beloved nephew of Margaret Keenan. Treasured uncle of Patricia M. Hook. Cherished Godfather of Steven Marini and Maura M. Aguilar. Adored by many cousins and life-long friends.
He was predeceased by parents Patrick J. Rowan, Sr. and Marion B. Rowan, brother Patrick J. Rowan, Jr. and brother-in-law William P. Hook, Jr.
After graduating from Gloucester Catholic in 1969, Thom continued to pursue his dream of teaching while attending Camden County College and Glassboro State College. Thom also received his Masters Degree from Glassboro State in 1977. Thom served the Camden City School District for 36 years as a specialized teacher and administrator.
Thomas was known for his quick wit and ability to make people laugh. He enjoyed his trips to the casinos with his friend Ray, trips to Lancaster with his cousin Reene, and cheering on the Eagles and Phillies. Saturdays in the fall would often be spent watching college football, especially Notre Dame. Time spent enjoying breakfast or lunch with family or friends was always a highlight in Thom's day. As well as being know for his beautiful calligraphy, he recently rediscovered his love of drawing and painting.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Tuesday morning, May 7th from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM in the church. Interment will be private in New St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date.
