Vu is survived by his sister, Thuy Da Lam. He was predeceased by his parents Be Van Lam and Huynh Thi Hong Yen. Also survived by many aunties, uncles, and cousins in Australia, the UK, and Vietnam. Vu once said to his aunty: sadness can't change much of one's situation, laughter is the best. He loved taking photographs of his family and telling funny stories. He was brave battling his illnesses. An image of a young man—handsome, happy, with a sense of humor—will always remain in his family's heart.
