"Dors" Dorsey, Jr.
August 12, 1946 – September 16, 2021
Pennsauken – Formerly of Westville, Mount Ephraim and Westmont. On September 16, 2021. Age 75. William was known to all as "Dors" and was a graduate of Camden Catholic High School in 1964. He graduated from LaSalle College with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education and graduated from Glassboro State University (Rowan University) with a Master's Degree in Secondary Education. Dors taught 3 years at St. Margaret's School in Woodbury Heights. He then taught Business at Catherine Gibbs School. Dors taught Homebound Instruction for the Camden County Educational Services in Clementon for over 20 years. He was an assistant coach at Haddonfield High School in 1978 when the Boys won the State Championship. Dors later was a longtime assistant and cherished friend of the late Tim Lenahan. He was always coaching and helping boys at St. Rose School for decades. Dors was always around the outside courts and gym giving guidance on pointers on the game of basketball.
Beloved son of the late William B. Dorsey, Sr. and Ida Dorsey (nee Schaeffer). Dear brother of Stephen Dorsey and the late Richard E. Dorsey (surviving Sandy). Loving uncle Richard and Michelle. Dors is survived by Lisa Lenahan-Pund (Chris Haas), Taylor Lenahan (Jacklynn), their children: Sophia, Layla, Timothy and Julian Lenahan, Connor and Morgan Lenahan who loved him and cared for him every day until the day of his passing.
Relatives, friends, former coaches and players are kindly invited to share stories of basketball and Dors at The Taproom and Grill: 427 West Crystal Lake Avenue, Haddonfield, NJ 08033 on Saturday, September 25, 2021 after 7 pm. Cremation private and Dors requested no funeral.
Memorial donations in William "Dors" Dorsey, Jr. name to St. Rose of Lima School: 300 Kings Highway, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035. Please write in memo of check: In Memory of William B. Dorsey, Jr. These donations will be used for the boys and girls basketball program at the school.
